Rachel Natalie and Ashley Leora were born December 20, 2006. The due date was February 13, 2007. Ashley was born at 3 lbs, 4 oz, 15 inches. Rachel was 3 lbs, 1 oz, 15 inches.

Latest Status, 7/17: Ashley weighs about 21 lbs, Rachel 19 lbs. Once they're both past 20, we'll stop using the infant car seats and Snap'n'Go stroller Answers to common questions: Rachel is almost walking. We've seen here take a few steps, but she still prefers to walk while holding on to something. Ashley continues to roll to get around, but she's doing much more crawling than earlier in the summer. Ashley has ten teeth. Rachel has six. Both have new teeth coming in regularly. They're eating solids like eggs, cheese, peas, banana, pasta, along with lots of milk. Mmm, gefilte fish. No, they're not waking up in the middle of the night. They sleep through most nights from 7pm to 7am. Yes, they sleep in separate cribs. Yes, the sound of one crying can sometimes make the other one cry, but sometimes not. Yes, they have very different personalities. They both came home on Thursday, January 18, after 29 days in the NICU. You'll see lots of wires in the photos from the hospital. They had monitors for heart and respitory rates. There's also a cuff on one foot that uses a light sensor to measure how much oxygen is in their blood (and prove therefore that they're breathing). In the earlier pictures, the thing in their noses is the feeding tube, though in some of the earliest pictures it was in their mouths. Only in the very earliest pictures, the first couple days, will you see they're getting extra oxygen through a tube. Jennifer came home after two days in the hospital, and is back to her usual self. |
